Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities

Horror and mystery had a baby and it’s marvelous.

This review is on the shorter side. Simply because I don’t have much negative to say. This blew me away. By far one of the best and most well written projects on television I’ve seen in a very long time. From the start, each episode is incredibly engaging, with intricate storylines and well developed characters. Each ending left me salivating for more. And that’s saying something considering I’m not typically a fan of horror.

With the exception of episode four which I felt was a bit too slow, they all got my attention almost immediately. I loved the Twilight Zone ambience, not really revealing the entire truth until the very end. Even then, I was still left with questions. It’s programs like these that really showcase the fact that writing is a HUGE part of why something succeeds or fails.

That’s it. That’s all I have, other than to say what a masterpiece.

Final Thoughts: If you are a fan of Twilight Zone type mysteries and horror stories, you need to see this series. I would absolutely recommend it (though maybe watch during the daylight hours).
